A leading name in South Indian cinema, Rakul Preet Singh has slammed a report claiming that she is out of work in Telugu cinema or commonly referred to as Tollywood. The actress, who made a splash in Telugu first before appearing in Tamil films like Spyder, Karthi's Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru and Suriya's NGK, responded to a media report on Sunday morning tweeting, "I wonder when I said this. Friends there are only 365 days in a year and if you can help in adjusting more than 6 films that I am doing right now then plz help my team. #anythingforheadlines." According to the report, Rakul had during an interview stated that she was not getting many offers as she did before in Telugu as she has been "preoccupied with back-to-back projects in Hindi." It is to be noted that her last big Telugu film was Check starring Nithiin and Priya Prakash Varrier in 2020, which failed to make an impact at the box office.

Rakul;s most recent outing was in Hindi in the Arjun Kapoor and Neena Gupta-starrer, Sardar Ka Grandson, which failed to receive a positive response from the audience and critics. Speaking about the film to PTI, she said, "The emotion in the film is very universal. It's not just about a grandmother and her grandson. It's about people going to a different extent for family. It's about giving importance to your family. I think never before have we understood or realised the importance of family than over the last one year, ever since the pandemic has hit the globe." Rakul's upcoming Hindi film projects include Anubhuti Kashyap's campus comedy-drama Doctor G, followed by Mayday and Thank God with Ajay Devgn, including the Indra Kumar and Ronnie Screwvala-produced comedy titled Chhatriwali

Apart from her projects in Hindi, Rakul Preet will also be seen returning to Tamil screens once again as she wrapped up filming earlier this year for Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi film, Ayalaan, under R. Ravikumar's direction, which also features Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman's music. She is also attached to Kamal Haasan's magnum opus, Indian 2, under Shankar's direction being produced by Lyca Productions and will be seen alongside a multi-star cast that includes names like Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani, with music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander.
