Rajinikanth will be joining forces with director Nelson Dilipkumar for his next film. The movie will be produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures with Anirudh Ravichander being reeled in to compose the film's music and Vijay Kartik Kannan being made to handle the camera as the film's cinematographer. Fans are eagerly waiting for an update about this movie ever since it was tentatively titled Thalaivar 169, and the hype only increased when the official title of the film was announced - Jailer. 

In his most recent interview with the media, Superstar Rajinikanth revealed some details about when shooting for the movie will begin. When asked, he replies saying that it will either start on the 15th of August or the 22nd of August.

The film will also feature Kannada star Shivrajkumar, Ramya Krishnan of Baahubali fame among others. Jailer is touted to be an action drama that focuses on a group of thugs plotting plan a jailbreak, with Rajinikanth taking on the role of a jailer, who stops this jailbreak. Other details regarding the cast and crew are yet to be revealed.

This will mark Superstar Rajinikanth's big return to the silver screen with Jailer after a gap of almost two years. He was last seen in the 2021 action drama film Annaatthe which also starred Keerthy Suresh. The film narrates the story of Kaaliyan, whose younger sister marries without his permission. She then moves to Kolkata and starts facing threats. At this juncture, Kaaliyan comes to her rescue.
