The first Rajinikanth film coming out this year will be the action gangster drama, Kaala, directed by Pa. Ranjith on April 27.

Jointly being produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Lyca Productions with music by Santhosh Narayanan, Kaala has several prominent names in its cast starting from Bollywood stars Nana Patekar as the antagonist and Huma Qureshi as the female lead followed by Shayaji Shinde and Anjali Patil along with Tamil stars Samuthirakani, Aravind Akash, Easwari Rao, Sukanya among others in vital supporting roles.

With the Tamil film industry at present going through a crisis in the form of a strike announced by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) against the Digital Service Producers (DSPs), there had been doubts as to whether Kaala would make it to screens next month as announced.

That being said, Lyca Productions made an announcement yesterday that they are in no way responsible for the speculations arising on Kaala’s new release date.

Meanwhile, reports across Telugu and Bollywood media outlets have now surfaced stating the satellite rights for Kaala have been sold for a whopping Rs. 75 crores to a popular Tamil channel.

In addition, it is stated the satellite rights deal includes the film releasing across all languages.

It must be noted Rajinikanth’s other upcoming film speculated for a Diwali release this year, 2.0, had its satellite rights sold for a staggering Rs. 110 crores last year.

Fans of Rajinikanth have plenty of reasons to celebrate as their idol had recently signed up for yet another film tentatively being called Thalaivar 165 under the Sun Pictures banner with young acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj set to helm.
