A day ago, the Baasha producer R.M. Veerappan celebrated his 90th birthday. The grand celebration was attended by many celebrities including Superstar Rajinikanth, who also surprised the audience with his nostalgic speech recollecting his less known past of an ordinary man.

The style icon recollected that there was a time when he spent just 65 Paise to watch the films produced by Veerappan. "I remember watching MGR’s Naan Aanaiyittal the first day it was released. The ticket rates were 65 Paise and Rs. 1.10 and Rs. 2.10. I realised that 65 Paise was what I could afford,” recalled the actor on stage. “There were limited tickets for the 65 Paise section, but I somehow wanted to get in. I sweated profusely, but somehow, got a ticket,” added the actor.

He also recalled the 125th day celebration of the super hit Baasha which was also produced by Veerappan. "I spoke about the bomb blast culture getting a stronghold in the state on that dais. The same night RMV sir lost his ministerial berth. I felt so bad after learning about it and telephoned him with fear. But he asked me not to feel bad for such things as they were the order of that day," said the actor.

Rajinikanth also added that after he became a hero he was reminded of the 65 Paise incident when he worked with Veerappan, who was the producer of the MGR film as well. This would remind any Rajinikanth fan, the climax scene of his super hit film Kuselan!
