It came as a massive sudden surprise a while back when Sun Pictures announced that their next film with ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth would be directed by blockbuster director Siva. Tentatively titled Thalaivar 168, the upcoming project will be Sun Pictures’ third-time association with Rajinikanth after their previous smash successes, Enthiran and Petta. With production on Thalaivar 168 apparently being planned to kick-off from December, there are now reports stating the film has been titled as Viyoogam. Speculations have been rife that Viyoogam has been locked as the title of Thalaivar 168 considering Siva’s films with ‘Thala’ Ajith all start with the letter ‘V’ and ends with the letter ‘M’ (Veeram, Vedalam, Vivegam and Viswasam). As of now, it remains to be seen if Viyoogam is indeed the title as it sounds to be too scientific and director Siva had previously stated that the film will be an out-and-out rural family entertainer that will be catering to audiences of all ages.

The talk about Rajinikanth and director Siva teaming up first shot up when the iconic actor invited the Viswasam director to his residence at Poes Garden in Chennai earlier in May. As of now, Bigil editor Ruben has been confirmed to be part of Thalaivar 168 and composer D. Imman is also set to come on board as to score the music. Rajinikanth fans are now awaiting the motion poster of his next film, Darbar, under A. R. Murugadoss’s direction, which will be released on November 7.
