With almost entire India is under lockdown mode for 40 days, as ordered by the Central Government, people do not have much to keep them occupied. Most people are turning to online platforms for their source of entertainment. Superstar Rajinikanth enjoys a huge fan base across the world, however, only very of his celebrated classic hits can be found on OTT platforms. On top it, his film Padaiyappa has now been removed from OTT.

Padaiyappa was streaming on Amazon Prime and all of a sudden, the film has been removed from the platform. It is reported that this sudden removal is due to agreement discrepancy issues between the production house and Amazon. Padaiyappa is written and directed by KS Ravikumar which also featured veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan. The soundtrack album and background score were composed by A. R. Rahman. Padaiyappa was released on 10 April 1999 on the eve of Tamil New Year's Day. This was the first Tamil film to be released worldwide with 210 prints and 700,000 audio cassettes sold. It became Tamil cinema's highest-grossing film at that point.
