Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe is one of the highly anticipated films in Tamil cinema. Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Viswasam fame Siva, Annaatthe features an ensemble star cast including Khushbu Sundar, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Soori, Sathish, and others. The film was scheduled to hit the screens this year during the Pooja holidays and the team was working towards the same. However, the unexpected outbreak of coronavirus affected the work flow of every single industry and cinema industry is no exception.

There has been no progress for any film for the past 50 days and we are still not sure when the situation will get back to normalcy. Having said that, the makers of Annaatthe have now come up with a new breaking announcement, revealing the new release date. Sun Pictures, in an official tweet, mentioned that this Rajinikanth starrer will hit the screens for the festive occasion of Pongal, next year (2021). Annaatthe becomes one of the first films to officially announce the change in plans due to the current situation and we can expect many more films to follow suit.

The team of Annaatthe have completed two schedules so far in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad, and more portions are expected to be canned once the lockdown is uplifted.
