Sura was Thalapathy Vijay's 50th film in his career, that was directed by S.P.Rajkumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. The film was distributed by Sun Pictures. However, the film's box office performance was not great that failed to strike a chord with the audience. The negative reviews also disappointed the fans. After a gap of 9 long years, producer Sangili Murugan has come out and shared his feelings about the film. He also added that it is not right or good to talk about something that has already got over.

In one of his recent interviews to a popular media channel, Sangili Murugan said, "Adhu Kandraavi Sura (It was a messy disgusting film). It will only be creating more problems for me if I talk about it. Let us talk good things and be positive. Way back, we (Sangili Murugan and Vijay) did sense the result of the film. Even while shooting, Vijay asked if we can change the director and shoot the film, but we then let it go. We did see that coming.

Let us not talk about that film now as it is already done and dusted. There is no use in talking about something that is over. One thing I can tell is that, being a producer, is like walking on a knife and every part of it is sharp. You never know what would happen next." When he was asked if he incurred any loss due to the film, Sangili Murugan said, "I sold the outright, a major part, to Sun TV. They did feel bad initially, but then, they managed it.

The loss was managed with other sources of revenues. There is satellite rights in six different languages, the dubbed versions, and those things can make up for it. Back then, during our days, it wasn't like that, but now, there are lot of sources to collect revenue."
