For the past few months, Vijay's Thuppakki has been undergoing lots of title issues. Earlier in a petition filed by K.C. Ravidevan of North East Film Works Film Factory, he alleged that he was the one who registered the title Kalla Thupakki with Film Chamber in 2009 but then the producers of Thuppakki used the influence of SAC to register the title.
This is what producer Kalaipuli S. Dhanu, had to say about the whole issue.
If every maker who has the word KADHAL in his title, decided to revolt against the movie KADHAL, what would happen? Recently there came a movie Pasanga, which was successful. Now comes Kurumbukara Pasanga. There came a movie called Singam Puli and one called Singam. So Thuppaki happens to be the licensed, legal weapon in the hand of my hero. But Kalla Thuppaki refers to an illegally acquired weapon probably in the hands of wrong doers. The implications are completely different. The lines are very clearly drawn. There is just no room for confusion or controversy. No need at all.
