Malayalam film director Alphonse Puthren's Gold marks his big comeback after seven years when made the blockbuster Premam in 2015, which became a phenomenal success in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The upcoming film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara is set to open in cinemas worldwide on December 1 after it was initially pushed from its release in September for Onam. Gold is coming out in Tamil and Malayalam (subs) in Tamil Nadu theatres and it has now been announced that AGS Cinemas has come on board as the film’s multiplex partner.

Produced by Prithviraj Productions in association with Surpriya Menon and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames, Gold is being presented in Tamil Nadu by the SSI Productions banner, which was previously associated with Silambarasan TR's 2021 blockbuster, Maanaadu. There is a huge buzz for the upcoming Alphonse Puthren directorial among Tamil audiences as well considering his film-making debut, Neram, received largely positive feedback, with the response to his second film, Premam, being nothing short of spectacular. The expectations for Gold shot up after the makers released an intriguing teaser featuring primarily Prithviraj and Nayanthara to the rocking music of Rajesh Murugesan, who is back after his chart-busters in Premam. Below is the official announcement: 

Gold will see Prithviraj as Joshi S., while Nayanthara is playing a character named Sumangali Unnikrishnan, with the supporting cast featuring the likes of Chemban Vinod Jose, Lalu Alex, Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, M. A. Shiyas, Shammi Thilakan, Jaffer Idukki, Shabareesh Varma, Roshan Mathew, Shanthi Krishna, Justin John, Deepti Sati, Vinay Forrt, Ajmal Ameer, Saiju Kurup, Prem Kumar, Suresh Krishna, Faisal Muhammed, among others. With only a few days before the release of Gold, fans expect to witness a trailer or a promo and it remains to be seen whether the team comes up with a visual treat next.
