Actors Prabhu and Suhasini Mani Ratnam were last seen in Abhiyum Anuvum, released in 2018. It was directed by Asia's first woman cinematographer, B. R. Vijayalakshmi. The 2 veteran actors had joined the cast of Kannada actor Shivarajkumar's next, which is speculated to be titled as Anand, directed by P Vasu. It is said that the actors' portions in the movie have been filmed completely and that they are to play key roles.
Anand will be bankrolled by Sandalwood’s popular production house, Dwarakish Chitra Productions and this will be their 52nd film. 70 days of the shooting has been done and the final schedule of the movie has been planned for 16 days, which will be shot from May 30. It includes filming a song and the climax portion at Mangaluru, fight sequences at Madikeri and parts of train sequences at Hyderabad.
The team of Anand movie has also planned to shoot an outdoor song, for which the location is yet to be finalized. Director P Vasu is associating with Shivarajkumar and the production house for the second time. The movie features Rachita Ram as the female lead with Nidhi Subbaiah in a pivotal role. Anand's music has been scored by Gurukiran and the man behind the lens is P K H Doss.
