When Dr. Srinivasan usurped Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan’s title Power Star and burst on to the movie scene in Kollywood, the audience, critics and movie folk did not quite know what to make of this man. After a couple of poor-showing flicks, we expected him to take the exit. But instead he has added a whole new colour to comedy! And in Summa Nachunnu Irukku, he plays the role of the villain!
“When we decided to cast Power Star as the villain in the movie, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya had not even released. So I was not too sure about how he would act the part. But he has delivered 200%. He has figured out what the people like about him, and in every action or utterance he makes sure he hits that spot,” says Venkatesh. Erode Mahesh has a bone to pick with Dr. Srinivasan, though. “Before every shot I would explain to him, what the lines were and how he ought to say it. He’d nod like he understood but once the camera started rolling, he’d do something absolutely different from what we discussed,” says Mahesh. But it worked for the script, so the writer and the director indulged him. “Yes, he did present the lines in a different way, but like I said, before, he knows best what his fans enjoy and he plays to that. And I in fact, enjoyed his interpretation too,” says Venkatesh.
