Pazhassi Raja was a cherished dream: MT

While speaking after inaugurating the Pazhassi Day observance at the Mananthavady Panchayat Community Hall, Kalpetta (Kerala) on Monday, legendary Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair said that he has accomplished his long-cherished dream by writing the screenplay of the latest Mammootty starrer Pazhassi Raja, now running in cinemas.

"By making the film, the producer and the director were able to record on celluloid and spread the history of the great freedom fighter, which had been confined to a small locality, and inspire the minds of people in the state," he said. Delivering the keynote address, director Hariharan of Pazhassi Raja said�Mammootty had portrayed Pazhassi Raja the great warrior without losing the historical perspective.

Vasudevan Nair and Hariharan were honoured on the occasion. Gokulam Gopalan, producer of the film also spoke. The programme was organised jointly by the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust, the Wayanad District Library Council, the Pazhassi Raja Memorial Library and the Mananthavady block panchayat in connection with the 204th death anniversary of Pazhassi Raja.
