Director Pa. Ranjith's upcoming film titled Sarpatta Parambarai had its first look revealed on Wednesday and has since received an astounding response from fans, who have been gushing at Arya's look and his massive physical transformation as a boxer from North Madras. The film produced by Shanmugam Dhakshan Raj under the K9 Studios banner and featuring music composed by Santhosh Narayanan is set in the backdrop of the 1970s and 1980s, with the makers now releasing new stills. In the latest stills for Sarpatta Parambarai, we see the looks of the other stars namely Dushara Vijayan, Kalaiyarasan, Sanchana Natarajan, Pasupathy and John Vijay being revealed, while Santhosh Prathap and John Kokken too are playing pivotal roles in the film. 

In the Sarpatta Parambarai first look, Arya's character name was revealed to be Kaali. Now, Dushara Vijayan, who plays the female lead in the film, has penned a note on her Instagram story where she goes on to reveal her character's name as Maariyamma, while expressing her gratitude to director Pa. Ranjith and Arya, including the entire team for their support. She wrote, "I have been waiting to reveal Maariyamma from SARPATTA and there you go! This day is definitely huge!!! Ranjith sir you have been one and only the best mentor for me, Arya, you have been very supportive and the best person I have worked with, thanks to you! I thank the whole crew for making this possible! Do watch the film!"

Sarpatta Parambarai will have cinematography by Murali G, editing by Selva RK and art direction by T Ramalingam, while Tamizh Prabha has co-written the story along with Pa Ranjith. Filming has been completed, with the team currently carrying out the post-production works. According to reports, Sarpatta Parambarai will delve into the politics involved in the sport of boxing and how the protagonist overcomes all the challenges to emerge as a champion. Fans have massive expectations for Sarpatta Parambarai, which will be Pa. Ranjith's next big film for the director after he last worked with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth in Kabali and Kaala

It is said that Pa. Ranjith did a lot of strong research on the film's plot and has attempted to shed light on the forgotten and unseen culture behind the sport of boxing in Tamil Nadu, especially in North Madras.
