Ajay Bhupathi worked as an assistant director to Veeru Potla and Ram Gopal Varma before making his debut as a director with RX 100. He made his presence felt in the industry with his very first attempt at direction. RX 100 had two debuts Kartikeya Gummakonda and Payal Rajput in the lead roles. Rao Ramesh and Ramki were cast in supporting roles. The film is announced to be remade in Hindi starring Tara Sutaria and Ahan Shetty. The Hind version is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, directed by Milan Luthria and presented by Fox Star Studios. Ajay Bhupathi has been in the news for the past few days after he filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime police alleging that an unknown man has been impersonating him and seeking nude pictures of women over social media. In his complaint he also added that as many as six women have come forward claiming to have been duped into thinking they were interacting with Ajay Bhupathi. He made Twitter post a couple of days back asking people not to believe such rumours - “Hello, I filed a Cyber Crime case against a fraudster (7995267901) using my name to trap women in the name of Casting Calls. The official announcements of my films will be out on Trusted sources only. Stay cautious & beware of such incidents happening around.”

Ajay Bhupathi later released an extensive statement regarding the same - “Hi everyone, this is Ajay Bhupathi. I have got to know that many people are creating fake profiles on social media with my name to exploit girls. Earlier, I settled a similar issue regarding a message to a girl from a profile in my name, where my team disclosed it with proper advice on fake profiles. But it didn't settle there, there are few more girls who were facing the same situation and that too from the same number (7995267901). Responding to the same, we took it seriously and went on to file a case in Cyber Crime. We expect many more innocent trapped in the same scenario. So, we request everyone to stay cautious & be aware of such fraudsters ahead.”

Now it is reported that the Police department has found the suspect just a day after Ajay registered a case with the Cyber Crime Police. It is reported that the suspect contacted the women through WhatsApp and other social media platforms. He was picked up based on the mobile number and location of the SIM card. Action will be taken against him after the police collect enough evidence. It is suspected that the detained person might have been involved in similar offences elsewhere.
