Hailed as the first female superstar of India, actress Sridevi Kapoor's popularity from the late '70s to the mid '90s was unlike any other.

A pan-Indian star, Sridevi passed away last month at the age of 54 leaving the entire nation in a state of shock.

Although Sridevi hasn’t been seen in many films over the years, her comeback in English Vinglish in 2012, went on to remind fans that she can carry an entire film on her own.

She was last seen in Mom released last year, which once again fetched good reviews for her performance.

Sridevi will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s multi-starrer Zero in a cameo also featuring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles in December this year.

Meanwhile, Sridevi was also supposed to star in Karan Johar’s production venture Shiddat to be directed by Abhishek Varman.

With Sridevi’s unfortunate passing, there were questions on who would be replacing the iconic star in Shiddat.

Sridevi’s daughter, Jahnvi Kapoor, who is also starring in Karan Johar’s other production venture Dhadak, announced on her instagram page a short while back that popular Bollywood superstar actress Madhuri Dixit Nene will be stepping in for Sridevi in Shiddat.

Bollywood heart-throb Varun Dhawan will be playing the lead in the upcoming film.

Actress Alia Bhatt, who is now an A-list star will be appearing as the female lead.
