The 44th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is all set to begin from September 5th and will be lasting for 10 days until 15th September 2019. Despite the gloom of Kerala rains and floods, 2 movies from the Malayalam cinema industry have been chosen for this year's Toronto International Film Festival. The two movies are Angamaly Diaries fame director's Lijo Jose Pellissery's Jallikattu and Geethu Mohandas' Moothon. Apart from these two, the other movies that are selected for the TIFF are Bombay Rose and The Sky is Pink.

Lijo Jose Pellissery's Jallikattu is based on the short story written by S Hareesh called Maoist. The movie features Anthony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose and Sabumon Abdusamad, among others. The reports also read that the film presents a portrait of a remote village at a town, where a buffalo escapes and causes a frenzy of ecstatic violence.

Moothon is a bilingual movie which is written and directed by Geethu Mohandas, is about a 14 years old who comes from Lakshadweep Islands to Mumbai, in search of his elder brother. This movie features Nivin Pauly, Shashank Arora and Sobhita Dhulipada in the star cast.
