A film that turned out to be both a massive commercial and critical success in 2019, Asuran, starring Dhanush under Vetri Maaran's direction had since been announced to be remade in Telugu under the title Narappa, with superstar Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead role. Asuran, which is Dhanush's highest-grossing film to date, also had Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, Teejay Arunasalam, Ken Karunas, Ammu Abhirami among others in major supporting roles, with the Telugu remake, Narappa, since being revealed to be coming out in theatres later this year after production was brought to a halt in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Narappa directed by Brahmotsavam fame Srikanth Addala has been produced by Suresh Babu's Suresh Productions in association with Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, with Priyamani reprising Manju Warrier's role as the female lead, while Karthik Rathnam, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajeev Kanakala, Vasishta N. Simha will be seen in pivotal roles, with the makers on Thursday on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri unveiling Venkatesh's young look from the film. Taking to Twitter, 'Victory' Venkatesh shared the new Narappa poster and wrote, "Meet the young Narappa ! Happy Maha Shivaratri"

This new Narappa poster featuring a young Venkatesh gives us a glimpse of the superstar akin to Dhanush in the 'Kathari Poovazhagi' song and will no doubt be a big highlight for the veteran actor's ardent fans. It is to be noted that a teaser promo for Narappa was released towards the end of last year showing Venkatesh in action mode going after the wrongdoers, with the visuals receiving a thumping response. Narappa includes music by Mani Sharma, with expectations high that he will recreate magic on the lines of G.V. Prakash Kumar's thumping songs and score in Asuran. The other notable names in the technical team include Shyam K Naidu for the cinematography, while the editing has been done by Marthand K Venkatesh.

Narappa's shooting has been completed, with post-production works currently being carried in a steady manner in line with the release plans later this year. Expectations surrounding Narappa have been huge right from the moment the project was announced, with hopes that the remake will be faithful to Asuran, including fans looking forward to Venkatesh to come back with a bang and match Dhanush's thunderous performance.
