A film that has garnered national recognition even before its theatrical outing, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's epic historical war film, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, is getting a pan-Indian release and is coming out in Tamil as well. Titled as Maraikkayar Arabikadalin Singam in Tamil, the upcoming film has been directed by iconic filmmaker Priyadarshan and is set in the 16th century telling the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, naval commander of the Samoothiri. Produced on a grand scale by Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas in association with Santhosh T. Kuruvilla and Roy C. J's Confident Group, the highly-anticipated Maraikkayar Tamil trailer has now been officially released and shows the scope of the film.

The Maraikkayar trailer starts off with the Portuguese gearing up to face off Mohanlal's battalion of warriors and giving us glimpses of Pranav, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Suhasini, Arjun, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Mukesh, Ashok Selvan, with the ensemble cast also featuring names like Kalyani Priyadarshan, Innocent, Fazil, Siddique, late actor Nedumudi Venu among others. The visuals in the Maraikkayar trailer are high on action and shows the big battle in the 16th century. Maraikkayar bieing released in Tamil by blockbuster producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations is one of the biggest films to be made in Malayalam cinema history at a budget of more than 100 crore. 

Shot extensively in the Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has already won three awards at the 67th National Film Awards — Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume, with the film scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on December 2. The film has a stellar technical team on board featuring the likes of music director Ronnie Raphael, cinematography by Thiru, editing by Aiyappan Nair M.S and a screenplay written by Priyadarshan and Ani I.V. SASI.
