Mohanlal was last seen in the Tamil cinema industry in the 2014 pongal blockbuster movie, Jilla, featuring in the role of Vijay father, Shakthi. He would next be seen in Suriya's upcoming release in the year, Kappaan which will hit the theatres on August 30th. Mohanlal would be voicing for his character, Chandrakanth Varma in Kaappaan just as he did for his previous Tamil films. He plays the role of the Prime Minister of Indian in the Suriya starrer flick, directed by KV Anand. A picture of Mohanlal at the dubbing studio crept its way into the social media, which hints that the post-production of Kaappaan has kick started.
Mohanlal a few months back had stated in an interaction that he has watched a lot of movies of Suriya, Karthi and their father, Sivakumar. He even stated that he feels really familiar and comfortable with Suriya. Mohanlal even hinted that the story of Kappaan will state the relationship between his character, Chandrakanth Varma and Suriya's.
Kaappaan will have its music composed by Harris Jayaraj, bankrolled by Lyca Production. This action thriller is also releasing in Telugu, titled as Bandobast.
