Mayandi Kudumbattar press meet

The Mayandi Kudumbattar crew├п┬┐┬╜met├п┬┐┬╜media persons on December 6th following the film’s launch├п┬┐┬╜the previous day. We├п┬┐┬╜felt├п┬┐┬╜we were meeting a family, not a film crew, such was their team spirit. And that is the reason producer S.K. Selvakumar preferred to cast these 10 directors whom he knew well instead of taking 10 actors. All these directors├п┬┐┬╜acting in this film – Tharun Gopi, Manivannan, Ponvannan, Seeman, Ravi Mariya, Nanda Periyasami, Jagannath, Singampuli, Raj Kapoor and G.M. Kumar – are not only allied by common interest and profession,├п┬┐┬╜they also├п┬┐┬╜share an emotional affinity. Selvakumar├п┬┐┬╜added that for the same reason, the 65 days of shooting├п┬┐┬╜in Vathalagundu will be an event filled with fun and frolic.

Another important attraction was the audience├п┬┐┬╜– about 63 directors of Kollywood attended this press meet! While addressing this elite audience, Rasu Madhuram, the film’s director, said├п┬┐┬╜he wanted to debut in Kollywood with this film, but├п┬┐┬╜destiny had other plans for him. Describing his film as a “pure rural subject”, Rasu said the film will follow the relationship between two important families – Mayandi (Manivannan) and Virumandi (G.M. Kumar) families – of a village. He then added that this action film will not depend on goriness or vulgar dialogues.

Two new heroines – Poongodi from Kerala and Tamizharasi from Bangalore – get introduced to Kollywood through this film.

The shooting, or rather “the picnic” in producer Selvakumar's words, begins in Vathalagundu on December 8th and continue for 65 days.
