As a shocking incident, popular Marathi television actress Pradnya Parkar allegedly strangled her daughter to death and then hanged herself at their house at Manisha Nagar in Kalwa on Friday. The 40-year-old Pradnya Parkar is known from her roles in television serials and her 17-year-old daughter Shruti was a Class XII student at NG Bedekar College of Commerce in Thane.
The incident reportedly happened between 8 and 9 on Friday morning when her husband had gone to the gym. When her husband returned from the gym, the door of the flat was locked from inside. With the help of neighbours, her husband broke the doors and went inside only to find the bodies of Pradnya and Shruti.
According to reports, a suicide note purportedly written by Pradnya Parkar was recovered from the location. Pradnya Parkar on her suicide note reportedly said that she was under extreme stress and hence she killed her daughter Shruti and was going to kill herself.
Preliminary reports revealed that Parkar was not getting much work these days and her husband too was facing problems in his business which led Parkar to take the extreme step said senior police inspector Shekhar Bagde. Further investigations are underway.
