Mani Ratnam's recently released Kadal, featuring debutantes Gautham Karthik and Thulasi in the lead roles, opened to mixed reviews. Now, his fans are eagerly waiting for the director to announce his next. Meanwhile, the grapevine has it that the director, who is currently in his Kodaikanal house, has decided to do a film with Rensil D'Silva, who had penned the dialogues for Raavan and is the script writer for the Bollywood flick Kurbaan. The buzz is that, the duo will be reviving a Bollywood project titled Lajjo, which they dropped in 1996, with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead, and the film would be a period drama, depicting love in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition.

An official announcement is awaited.
