A six-time National Award-winning filmmaker, Mani Ratnam has seen success unlike any other filmmaker in the nation. Felicitated the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2002, the ace director will now be getting yet another new honor. 


Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala will be felicitating Mani Ratnam on behalf of the Karnataka government and the Bangalore International Film Festival with the newly introduced Lifetime Achievement Award today at Vidhana Soudha. 


Fans will know Mani Ratnam’s career began in the Kannada film industry when the filmmaker made his debut with Pallavi Anu Pallavi in 1983.


As for his upcoming projects, Ratnam is working on his multi-starrer mammoth film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam with A. R Rahman scoring the music jointly being produced under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners.


Titled Nawab in Telugu, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam has an ensemble star cast featuring names like Simbu, Jyothika, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay, Prakash Raj, Aditi Rao Hydari and Aishwarya Rajesh.
