Mammootty has had two successful releases with Madhura Raja directed by Vysakh and Unda directed by Khalid Rahman. Both the movies were critically acclaimed and did well at the Box Office. He also did an extended cameo role in Pathinettam Padi. And his upcoming films are Ganagandharvan, Mamangam and Shylock. His Shylock features Meena, Rajkiran, Bibin George, Baiju Santosh, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Harish Kanaran and John Vijay. Said to be a mass entertainer, this movie will be directed by Ajai Vasudev. The filming was commenced a while ago at Ernakulam and the recent news on Shylock is that Mammootty's portions will begin in a week's time.
It is said that Mammootty's character, will have shades of grey and that the other characters in the movie call him Shylock. The scripting of Shylock is done by Aneesh Hameed and Bibin Mohan. Mammootty and Ajai Vasudev are coming together for the third time after Rajadhi Raja and Masterpiece.
Shylock is bankrolled by Goodwill Entertainments with tunes composed by Gopi Sundar. The makers of the movie are planning to release it for Christmas, this year. Interestingly, his Ganagandharvan will be a Onam release, clashing with Mohanlal's Ittimani: Made In China.
