Megastar Mammootty's next film was officially launched this morning (July 10) and the pictures from the launch event have been doing rounds on social media. Mammootty will be joining hands with blockbuster director B Unnikrishnan for this new film and the fans have already pinned high hopes on this biggie. Touted to be an action thriller, this film will be bankrolled by RD Illuminations and has story penned by Udaya Krishna, marking his second association with director B Unnikrishnan after Mohanlal's Aaraattu. Unnikrishnan has already worked with Mammootty in Pramani which released in 2010.

Tentatively titled 'Megastar 418', this film will have three female leads - Amala Paul, Sneha, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The makers have made an interesting choice of female leads and details regarding their characters are kept under wraps. Shine Tom Chacko, Dileesh Pothan, and Jinu Joseph will be playing supporting roles. Vinay Rai, who played the villain in the recent Tamil films like Doctor and Etharkkum Thunindhavan has been roped in to be a part of the cast and he is believed to play a negative role. The film was launched this morning, but the shoot is reportedly expected to start only on July 15, Friday, and Mammootty will join the sets from the said date.

Mammootty will be seen playing a police officer in this film. Mammootty's next release will be Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam which is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam features Ramya Pandian as the female lead and has Ashokan, Chethan Jayalal, Kainakary Thankaraj, and others in important roles. Details regarding the release plans of the movie are yet to be known. Mammootty is also awaiting the release of Rorschach which is a psychological thriller directed by Nisam Basheer and written by Sameer Abdul.

Sharafudheen, Jagadish Kumar, Sanju Sivram, Kottayam Nazeer, Bindu Panicker play crucial roles in this film that has cinematography handled by Nimish Ravi.
