Malavika Wales to perform at Vadakkunnathan temple

Upcoming Malayalam actress Malavika Wales, who is currently working in a Tamil film Arasuvai Arasan after marking her debut with Malarvadi Arts Club (Malayalam) followed by Ayisha and Makaramanju, will present a Bharatanatyam recital at Sree Vadakkunnathan temple on Monday as part of Sivaratri celebrations.

The actor said she had selected abhinaya-oriented pieces for the dance programme, which will begin with an invocation to Lord Ganesh set to raga Natta. She would then interpret the Thanjavur Sankara Iyer composition in raga Revathi, ‘Mahadeva Siva Sambho', and a song in raga Revagupti, ‘Kanikanum Neram'.

Choreographies based on two compositions of Papanasam Sivan (‘Enna thavam seithanai', in raga Kapi, and ‘Devi Neeye Thunai', in raga Keeravani) will also be presented.

“I have always been a serious student of Bharatanatyam. It has helped my career in films,” said Malavika Wales, a disciple of Kalamandalam Kshemavathy and Kalamandalam Prasanna Unni.
