After the success of Bharat Ane Nenu, Mahesh Babu was signed to team up with director Vamshi Padipally of Yevadu and Thozha fame for his next. The film was titled as Maharshi, scheduled to hit the screens on April 25. However, the release date of this film has now been pushed by two weeks, getting set to release on May 9. Producer Dil Raju officially announced the new release date with a press meet.

He said, "The press meet is about Maharshi, we will finish the shoot very soon. Two songs and a few montage sequences are left to be shot. This is one of the best scripts in director Vamshi's career. The film has come out really well. The whole team including all the technicians are very happy with the output of the film. The post-production will take more time than we expected. And we didn't want to hurry and give our audience a half cooked product especially when we know we have a winner on our hands.

So I spoke to the hero, Mahesh Babu and Vamshi and now we have taken a call to release the film on May 9th. We are not going to compromise on the quality and that's why we have taken this decision. This is going to be one of the best films in Mahesh Babu's career. Maybe it could end up being the best ever. I am sure this film is going to be a blockbuster. So please be ready to watch the film on the 9th of May."
