Announced towards the end of 2018, Maamanithan, is ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi and National Award-winning director Seenu Ramasamy’s fourth film together after Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, the smash hit, Dharma Durai and the long-delayed, Idam Porul Yaeval. The project gained further attention when it was revealed that legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja and his two sons, Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja would work on the film’s music leaving fans mighty excited. With production wrapped up a few months back, Yuvan has now announced on social media that he has begun working on the Maamanithan songs with his father for the first time ever while also assuring the album will come off as a surprise for all music lovers. Produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja under his YSR Films banner, Maamanithan has quite a lot of positives going for it starting with the popular TV channel, Zee Tamil, acquiring the satellite and digital rights of the film while Shan Sutharsan of Vansan Movies bagged the theatrical rights. The upcoming drama also includes Gayathrie Shankar playing the female lead followed by Viswasam fame Anikha Surendran, Guru Somasundaram, Shaji Kailash among others in major supporting roles. As of now, no release plan has been revealed, but we can expect the film to hit screens either sometime towards the end of this year or early 2020.
