Vairamuthu and Kannadasan are poets people could instantly relate with. However, female lyricists who grab our attention are rare. After phenomenal success of lyric writers like Tamarai, a new lyricist named Uma Devi had been leaving her mark in Kollywood.

She was the brainchild of some of the chartbuster hits in Tamil including songs like Nee Naam in Madras, Mayanathi in Kabali. Uma Devi has now achieved a huge name in such a short time as she has penned the songs for Jyothika, Nayanthara and Trisha at once.

For Trisha, she wrote lyrics in the movie 96, while for Nayanthara, the meaningful lines Puthu Valarare Pura Naanure in the movie Aram. Uma Devi also penned the super hit song Adi Vaadi Thimira in Magalir Mattum for Jyothika which has been composed by Ghibran.
