Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil plays a negative character in recently released Kumbalangi Nights. Fahadh’s character Shammi who is a psycho, challenges our notions about heroes and masculinity in films.
Shyam Pushkaran, its writer shared that everyman has a dark side similar to Fahadh’s character. Shyam initially wanted a film based on a dark character who threatens boys who play in a playground in their village. Later on, the plot was reduced to Kumbalangi, an idyllic village near Kochi, added the writer.

Like Maheshinte Prathikaram and Mayanadhi, this movie also celebrates the small joys of ordinary people, said Shyam. Kumbalangi Nights is a family comic entertainer that narrates the life of four brothers and their struggles.
