Yet another movie has fallen victim to COVID 19 delaying its release date. This time, the Kannada fantasy action-adventure thriller film Vikrant Rona has taken the hit. The movie which was slated to release worldwide on February 24th 2022 has been postponed indefinitely until further notice. Over the last few weeks, rumours were going about that the makers would push the release date due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions that have been publically issued. The team has finally come out to address their reasons for it on social media.

They issued a statement that read, “Despite our willingness to meet you all at the cinemas on Feb 24th, the present COVID scenario and the prevailing restrictions are not favourable for a grand release across the globe. We understand that the wait can be excruciating but we promise that the cinematic experience will be worthy of your patience. We will soon announce the new date on which the world will meet its new hero!”. Writer-director Anup Bhandari has also stated, “#VikrantRona will meet you on a newer date. Stay safe!”.

This gives us hope as the steam seem as impatient as we are and are looking forward to releasing the movie as soon as possible. Shooting for the movie started as early as March 2nd 2020 under the title Phantom but kept getting delayed because of the pandemic. The film is to be released in 3D. Vikrant Rona stars Sudeep as a police officer. Vikrant Rona will also feature Jacqueline Fernandez in an extended cameo appearance as well as a song, whereas Nirup Bhandari and debutante Neetha Ashok will star in key roles.

The multilingual film is to be presented by Zee Studios and backed by Shalini Manjunath, and co-produced by Alankar Pandian with Ajaneesh Loknath behind the music and William David as its cinematographer. The film will have a pan Indian release.
