Superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta is a very special film for all the fans. The film showcased the nostalgic classic side of Rajinikanth with ample number of ‘Thalaivar’ moments and it set the screens on fire. The fans were delighted to see a completely energetic, enjoyable, and charismatic side of Rajinikanth after a long time and it turned out to be a big hit at the box office. The film was produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, who himself is an ardent fan of Rajinikanth.

In a recent interaction with Bollywood Life, Karthik Subbaraj revealed if there are any possibilities to do Petta 2 with his favourite star. He was quoted as saying, “While making the film we didn't have anything in mind about that and all (a sequel). But after it released, it got quite interesting the way the fans thought about it (possibility of a sequel) and kept asking and even suggested the way it should go. They message us with their ideas of Petta 2 on social-media platforms, which were all quite interesting.

Some even came forward with theories of possible stories for Petta 2. As of now, I wouldn't say that I have a story of Petta 2. But it could happen in future." Currently, Karthik is busy with the post-production works of his next, Jagame Thandhiram, that stars Dhanush in the lead role. Karthik will also helm Chiyaan 60 that will feature Chiyaan Vikram and his son, Dhruv sharing screen space together for the first time. Chiyaan 60 is produced by Lalit Kumar’s 7 Screen Studios and will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
