Karthi is awaiting the release of his upcoming masala movie Viruman which has been scheduled to release theatrically on 12 August 2022. The film has been written and directed by M. Muthaiah and stars Karthi and debutant Aditi Shankar, while Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, Soori, Karunas, Vadivukkarasi, and Saranya Ponvannan play supporting roles. The film is produced by Jyotika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment. Karthi has been moving about all over South India as a part of the film's promotional campaign.

During one such promotional event which had taken place recently, Karthi was asked a question by one of the people there. She asked him whether the audience can expect him and his older brother Suriya to do a movie anytime soon. Karthi smiles and tells her that they were in fact planning on doing so and even looked at 2 or 3 scripts. But since none of them followed up, they were not able to work on it. But he later clarifies saying that it will definitely happen as he reveals that even his brother Suriya has been very particular about it, telling him that they should somehow do at least one movie together. Karthi says that they will definitely do a film together when a nice story comes along their way.

The brothers seem very keen on working with each other but are patiently waiting until a good script drops on their laps for them to act together. Though Karthi has not acted with his own brother, he has shared the screen with his sister-in-law Jyotika for the 2019 action thriller film Thambi. So it is only a matter of time before we see the brothers team up together for their own flick.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karthi is also gearing up for the release of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan in which he plays the role of the brave, adventurous, and sarcastic warrior prince of Vaanar Clan - Vallavaraiyan Vanthiya Thevan. He will be seen sharing the screen with some of the biggest names of the Indian film industry such as Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha. The pan-Indian film has been scheduled to hit the screens on 30 September 2022.
