Karthi, who is currently reveling in the success of his last three blockbuster films, Viruman, Ponniyin Selvan: I, and Sardar, will soon return with his next ambitious project, Japan, which was earlier tentatively titled Karthi 25. The upcoming project is touted to be a mass action entertainer and will be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Japan will be directed by Raju Murugan and produced under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures. 

Today (November 14), the bankrollers of the project took to their official Twitter handle to make an important announcement. They shared the first look poster of the film along with a caption that read, "Presenting the First Look of #Karthi in & as #Japan #Karthi25 #JapanFirstLook ஜப்பான் - జపాన్ - ಜಪಾನ್ - ജപ്പാൻ ". The poster features a huge gold poster of Karthi holding an AK47 in the avatar that he will be playing. Under the poster, we see him passed out on a couch holding an alcohol bottle. Check it out:

The US-based actress Anu Emmanuel will play the female lead opposite Karthi in the film. After Thupparivaalan and the 2019 action comedy drama film Namma Veettu Pillai, Japan will be her third venture in the Tamil film industry. The technical team includes young and National Award winning music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar as the music composer, Ravi Varman as the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj as the editor.

Karthi has tried his hand in the film’s of almost every genre including romance, thriller, action humour, horror and etc. So it will be nice to see him in this mass entertainer. Director Raju Murugan is known for directing movies like Cuckoo, Thozha, Mehandi Circus, Gypsy, Varmaa and Joker (2016). The latter, which was a political satire film, won National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil and the Filmfare Award for Best Film- Tamil.
