Thalaivi was one of the first projects to be announced as a biopic of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Miss J. Jayalalithaa. Bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Sahilesh R. Singh, Thalaivi will have Kangana Ranaut essaying the late CM's role. The movie has been titled in Hindi as Jaya. The updates on the project has been long awaited and we have learnt from our sources that Thalaivi is slated to go on floors in the month of October, 2019 at Mysore.

We were also informed that Kangana is dedicatedly learning Tamil and Bharatanatyam. Apparently, a part of the movie will revolve around the phase when the former CM had her own dance troupe. It was also told that they have bought the rights from her nephew, Deepak Jayaraman, to ensure that there would be no issues in the future.

Our sources also added that the late CM's association with VK Sasikala and the controversies involving her will also feature in the movie. Furthermore, the makers of Thalaivi are confident that it will flourish at the box office, because of Kangana Ranaut and her continuous hard work to convince the audience of her portrayal of Miss J. Jayalalithaa. Once the filming at Mysore is completed, the team will then progress to Tamil Nadu.
