Actor Karthi’s Kaithi, which came out in theatres this Diwali last month, has gone on to become the biggest hit in the star’s career till date. The action thriller directed by Maanagaram fame Lokesh Kanagaraj under the joint collaboration of Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures banners has gone on to receive a thumping response from fans and critics alike with the film still continuing to draw audiences to theatres in strong numbers. With the makers last week releasing the Kaithi original soundtrack composed by Sam C. S., the film is now out starting today on the over-the-top (OTT) media service channel, Hotstar. That said, there has been some chatter online among theatre owners and a certain section of fans who state the film has been released on the OTT platform a little too early despite the pre-fixed 30 day window for them to be unveiled on the digital platform. Producer S. R. Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures has taken to his Twitter page now to put across a statement addressing the concerns saying the audience coming to theatres will eventually decrease, but the loss that will be incurred from piracy and less terms from the third week can be compensated for producers only through this medium. Karthi played the role of a convict named Dilli in Kaithi, which has also released in Telugu as Khaidi. The film revolves around Karthi, a cop played by Narain, a group of college students inside a police station and a band of dacoits headed by Arjun Das and Harish Uthaman with a drug haul forming the core plot point. Kaithi also includes Vijay TV Dheena, Mariam George, Deepthi, Ramana, Hareesh Peradi, Malavika Avinash, Chetan among others in crucial roles along with Sathya N Sooryan for the cinematography and Philomin Raj taking care of the editing.
