The highly anticipated Kaappaan starring Suriya in the lead role under KV Anand’s direction had been announced for an August 30 theatrical release. There has been massive buzz and excitement around the film especially after an action-packed teaser had come out a couple of months. With the first single track titled “Sirikki” released last week to a rousing reception, it has now been officially announced that broadcasting giant Sun TV has bagged the telecast rights of Kaappaan. The last time Sun TV acquired a Suriya film's TV rights was for his 2018 venture, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam

Being produced by Lyca Productions, the film has a massive star cast featuring names like Sayyeshaa as the female lead alongside Mohanlal, Arya, Samuthirakani, Shamna Kasim, Boman Irani in supporting roles and Chirag Jani playing the antagonist. We had revealed to you that the Kaappaan album composed by Harris Jayaraj will be released on July 23 on the occasion of Suriya’s birthday and we can await an official statement on the same. Kaappaan marks the third occasion Suriya, KV Anand and Harris Jayaraj are collaborating after their previous ventures, Ayan and Maattrraan.
