A subject of much debate over the past few days has been the controversy surrounding the release of ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s Kaala.

Set to hit screens on June 7 worldwide, the action gangster film Kaala directed by Pa. Ranjith under the Wunderbar Films banner with music by Santhosh Narayanan has been mired with issues pertaining to its release in Karnataka after the state’s Film Chamber announced they will not be screening the Kaala film owing to Rajinikanth’s favorable statements made with regards to the Cauvery Management Board.

Having said that, the producer of Kaala, Dhanush had approached the Karnataka High Court for the hearing on the release of the film.

In its decision, the court stated it cannot intervene or force any body to release a film.

The court then asked Dhanush’s lawyers to request the Karnataka government’s assistance in providing police protection.

At this point, it is relatively unknown whether Dhanush will consider the High Court’s suggestion to approach the government of Karnataka considering the state’s Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had few days back stated the people did not want the Kaala film to be released.
