A few weeks back, it was reported that Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal will be directly released on OTT platform, without waiting for the theatrical release. This news created a huge buzz on social media as it is one of the first mainstream Tamil films to make this bold move. The makers have now finally broken silence and come up with the official announcement about the release of the film. Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video platform, from May 29, two weeks from today (May 15).

Suriya, who has produced the film under his banner of 2D Entertainment, took to his official Twitter page to make this announcement. This move from a leading actor like Suriya will pave the way for many other producers and actors to explore this digital arena. Directed by debutant J.J.Fredrick, Ponmagal Vandhal features 5 veteran directors, including K Bhagyaraj, Radhakrishnan Parthiban, Thiagarajan, Prathap Pothen, and Pandiarajan, in prominent roles.

For the first time in her career, Jyotika will be seen as a lawyer and this film is expected to showcase her in a different dimension. The film has music scored by 96 sensation Govind Vasantha and cinematography by Ramji. Check out the official announcement tweet below:
