Indian 2 is an upcoming vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar and written by S. Shankar, B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. It serves as the official sequel to his 1996 film Indian. The film has been produced by Subaskaran Allirajah and Udhayanidhi Stalin under the banner of Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies respectively.
A new update has been revealed by writer B. Jeyamohan regarding Indian 2. During a recent exclusive interview with us on our Galatta Tamil platform, he spilled the beans on the highly anticipated film's runtime. He stated that Indian 2 will have a run time of 3 hours and 10 minutes making it the longest film of Shankar's to date.
Shankar is known for his movies having a long run time. For example, his 2005 film Anniyan ran for 3 hours, his 2007 action film Sivaji: The Boss ran for 3 hours 5 minutes while his 2012 coming of age comedy drama film Nanban ran for 3 hours and 5 minutes.
The shooting was halted following an accident on the sets in February 2020 which led to the death of three crew members. Production had also been suspended due to numerous factors including the COVID-19 pandemic, financial issues, creative differences and legal disputes. Shooting of the film only recently resumed in August 2022.
The film will see Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathy from the predecessor film. It additionally stars Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, and Vennela Kishore in pivotal roles. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography done by Ravi Varman and Rathnavelu and editing performed by A. Sreekar Prasad.
