In love with a villain: Meera Vasudevan on John Kokken

There is romance in air. The romance has come at the right time and resulted in good projects for both of them. We are talking about the latest love buzz in the South Indian cinema world: Meera Vasudevan and John Kokken.

Meera Vasudevan says the man behind all her current success, both in advertisements and films, plus her new positive approach towards projects, is not a hero but a filmi villain. Meera is truly excited about her close friend John Kokken who has changed her life completely.

Meera says she was down and heartbroken when she met John Kokken for the first time though the social networking site Facebook. John sent her a polite request to speak to him with his mobile number and invited Meera to meet him in Mumbai. Meera says she was offended at first and sent back some rude replies hoping he would get the message and stay away for good. However she became restless and felt guilty at having insulting him, so she finally called him. But she called him only after searching for him on Google and seeing his pictures. On the phone, a strong, bass and husky voice answered her call and he instantly recognized the caller as Meera. "He has some magic about him," says Meera. The first romantic talk lasted an hour. Soon, both of them were planning to meet.

Their first meeting was when Meera went to receive John at the airport, when he was returning after a hectic schedule of shooting for his two Kannada films Prithvi and Shaurya. John's first words to Meera at the airport? "You are the first girl friend who's come to pick me up at the airport." Meera was surprised and taken aback with his candid remark. Her snappy reply was, "Friend, not girl friend." John said, "Ya, it's one and the same."

Meera had a gut feeling that this guy would change the way she had imagined her life until that moment. "He looked like a terrorist. He had a 3-month dense beard and height of 6'2". My own Arnold Schwarzenegger," smiles Meera.

About his nature, she says, "John is a complete child at heart, always willing to do anything I ever need. He would come see me every day for over a month and travel two hours to and fro just to be with me. Resilient, very persuasive and stubborn, he was very clear that I am the girl for him and he would do anything for me. Scary, dramatic and romantic all together. In a month's time, John swept me away and stole my heart."

John says, "Meera is a sweet gal with loads of talent. She has hardly had a chance to explore her latent talents. Meera is a very sensitive girl and I love her a lot." He says he is working hard to get her good projects in advertisements and films.

John's entry into Meera's life has changed her life for the better. Today, John is everything for Meera. He is not only her soul mate, lover and friend; he also is her PR person.  Meera's career graph, which had hit an all-time low, has again started to soar. Meera is seen today in almost all TV channels in different commercials: Maa Juice, Pillsbury, Surf Excelmatic, Laxmi Jewellers and the list goes on... She is already doing two big films in Telugu and is all set to work as assistant director for a Malayalam film. She is also likely to get good projects in Kannada and Tamil.

"I am awaiting the release of my Tamil-Telugu film Attanayagan. I am currently shooting for an untitled Telugu film with a Telugu superstar. Apart from these two films, I am working on a Kannada and a Hindi film, both of which are untitled. My life truly is beautiful. Behind every successful woman is a man too! Behind my success and enthusiasm and my really busy career lies the mentoring and encouragement of John," says Meera.

John's film Prithvi has just completed 100 days. His film Shourya will release next week. Don Seenu, his first film in Telugu, collected a whopping Rs. 85 lakhs on the first day.

So life has changed for both for the better ever since they came together. We would like to wish them all the very best in all their future endeavours and in life.

Meera would like to share a poem she wrote on John with galatta.com readers.

There comes a time in the life of every girl,

She sleeps in smiling hope and a knowing tear for the boy's love to make her head swirl,

Love does come by, if you want it really bad,

But not before she realizes it's the best compared to all she's had,

When her eyes awake and find her beloved close,

A wonderful man, companion for life, by her side, always there for her and now a complete woman, she rose.
