Last week, the people of the nation were taken aback by the allegation made by actress Payal Ghosh against acclaimed filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap. The Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi actress claimed that she was sexually harassed by director Anurag Kashyap, a few years before. However, the Gangs of Wasseypur director denied the allegation and said that he doesn't involve in such activities. Anurag got support in the form of actors like Taapsee Pannu and his former wife, Kalki Koechlin. Since the truth is yet to be clearly known, a lot of actors have maintained silence and are waiting for the right side to get justice.

Having said that, actress Huma Qureshi who acted with Superstar Rajinikanth in Pa Ranjith’s Kaala, has taken to Twitter to share her official statement regarding the controversy. She said that she has never seen Anurag misbehave with a woman, but at the same time, added that whoever is at fault should be reported. Huma Qureshi’s official statement read, “Anurag and I last worked together in 2012-13 and he is a dear friend and an extremely talented director. In my personal experience and to my knowledge he has neither misbehaved with me or anyone else. However, anyone who claims to be abused must report it to the authorities , the police and the judiciary. I chose not to comment till now because I don't believe in social media fights and media trials. I feel really angry at being dragged into this mess. I feel angry not just for myself but also every woman whose years of hard work and struggle gets reduced to such baseless conjecture and allegations in their workplace. Please let's refrain from this narrative. It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #MeToo. This is my final response. Please do not approach me to make any more statements on this matter,”.

Huma Qureshi made her silver screen debut with Anurag Kashyap's critically acclaimed gangster drama, Gangs Of Wasseypur in which she played the role of Mohsina.

Huma will next be seen playing the female lead in Thala Ajith’s Valimai, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor. Reports suggest that Huma Qureshi will also be seen as a police officer, but an official confirmation is awaited. Valimai will be her next outing in Tamil cinema after Kaala.
