Suriya has been having an eventful run at the Box Office. His NGK with director Selvaraghavan received mixed reviews and his fans were waiting for Kaappaan to see him get back to his full glory at the Box Office. However, the highly expected Kaappaan too received only mixed reviews but the collections have been pretty decent for this movie, which was bankrolled by Lyca Productions and directed by KV Anand. It is well known that Suriya has moved on to his next project - Soorarai Pottru, which is being directed by Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame.

This movie, jointly bankrolled by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, has Aparna Balamurali as the female lead and also includes Karunas, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu in the cast. Ace Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal will be making his Kollywood debut with this movie, which has music by GV Prakash and cinematography by Niketh Bommi with editing by Sathish Suriya! Through a tweet from his handle, GV Prakash has revealed that the composition of the background score for Soorarai Pottru is currently in progress. He added that this movie would be a very special one from a "superb" director! Earlier, there were reports that Soorarai Pottru would be hitting the screens on January 10th and going by GVP's update, it looks like the team is well on track to meet the release deadline!
