Gopika: I will return

Just a few days after noted South Indian actress Gopika said (during her visit in Thiruvananthapuram to receive the Best Actress award in Asianet Film Awards 2009 for her performance in super hit Jayaram starrer Veruthe Oru Bharya) that she is ready to take up new projects if she can complete her portions in 15-20 days, the actress revealed that her husband has permitted her to act in selected films.

"My husband has no objection in doing a film, provided the role is meaty and sensible," she said, adding that she has three offers in hand: two in Tamil and one in Malayalam. Gopika's only condition for accepting new assignments is that the script should be given to her early and that her part should be completed in 15-20 days.

In Tamil, the invitations are from AVM Productions and Nava Jyothy Films. It is heard that Gopika has already grabbed the Malayalam offer, the next project of director Akku Akbar of Veruthe Oru Bharya fame. Jayaram will again be Gopika's hero in this film written by Gireesh Kumar. More details are awaited.

Now settled in Ireland with her husband, Gopika was immensely successful during her career of six years with a string of hits in all four South Indian languages. Her famous hit films include Autograph (2004), For The People (2004), Thotti Jaya (2005), Kana Kanden (2006), Mayavi (2006), Velli Thirai (2008), Annan Thampi (2008) and Kanasina Loka (Kannada).

In Veruthe Oru Bharya (Jayaram's comeback film which recently celebrated its 125h day at the box office and is still running successfully in the state) the young actress played the role of Bindhu with a child aged 14. Her last release was with Mammootty in AMMA’s multistarrer Twenty:20.
