Malayalam filmmaker Alphonse Puthren's next big film, Gold, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara now has a new release date and will be coming out in theatres on December 1, 2022. The announcement made on Wednesday, November 23, comes after the blockbuster director, who is best known for his films like Neram and Premam, had initially planned to bring it out in cinemas as an Onam release in September, but was later postponed. A new announcement poster for the Gold release date, including a special video promo, has dropped showing the previous statements by Alphonse Puthren along with the latest release update.

The buzz surrounding Gold has been huge ever since the film went on floors as fans have been waiting for Alphonse Puthren's next after the blockbuster Premam in 2015, which became a humongous success in Kerala and Tamil Nadu as well. The news of the filmmaker's big return after a seven-year gap sent fans into a state of elation, which was witnessed in the response to the film's teaser released earlier this year. The Gold teaser gave a glimpse of Prithviraj as Joshi S., while Nayanthara is playing a character named Sumangali Unnikrishnan, with a part of the supporting cast as well revealed featuring the likes of M. A. Shiyas as Baby Kunju, and Faisal Muhammed as Faiz.

Gold is produced by Prithviraj Productions in association with the Magic Frames banner and is also coming out in Tamil. The Tamil version is being released by SSI Productions, the banner previously associated with Silambarasan TR's 2021 blockbuster, Maanaadu. Another big USP of Gold is music by Rajesh Murugesan, who delivered chart-busters in Alphonse Puthren's Premam, with the theme track in the teaser of the upcoming Prithviraj and Nayanthara-starrer getting sensational feedback. The rest of the ensemble cast of Gold includes Chemban Vinod Jose, Lalu Alex, Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, Vinay Forrt, Shammi Thilakan, Shabareesh Varma, Jaffer Idukki, Roshan Mathew, Justin John, Deepti Sati, Ajmal Ameer, Saiju Kurup, Prem Kumar, Suresh Krishna, Shanthi Krishna, among others.
