Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has denied reports claiming that he would be making his movie debut in the Bengali remake of Telugu hit Golconda High School, which starred Sumanth and Swathi.

It was said that Ganguly recently watched the film, based on cricket, and bagged the Bengali remake rights of it. Reports further said that Ganguly might handle the lead role, played by Sumanth in the original. "I have not watched the movie and no one has approached me with the offer to act in the film," Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, there were contradictory reports in the media with actor Sumanth stating that Ganguly will produce and star in the remake. When contacted, the actor clarified: "My producer informed me that Sourav was keen on doing the film. Personally, I have no clue if he is doing the movie or not. I'm a big fan of Sourav Ganguly and have great respect for him as a cricketer. I think people have just jumped the gun here."

However, the film's producer Ram Mohan Paruvu confirmed that a production house from Kolkata approached him to buy the remake rights of Golconda High School.
