Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron’s Avatar has been for well over a decade leading the table for the highest-grossing films in world cinema with over $2.7 billion in global box office collections.
Recently, after Disney’s final acquisition of the Avatar properties, the release dates for the upcoming four sequels were shuffled starting with Avatar 2 announced to hit theatres worldwide on December 17, 2021.
With Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprising their roles for Avatar 2 alongside Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s Michelle Yeoh and Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel, December 23, 2022 is the date allotted for Avatar 3’s release followed by Avatar 4 on December 19, 2025, and Avatar 5 on December 17, 2027.
Meanwhile, with Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 being shot back-to-back, the team has now announced that actress Oona Chaplin, known for playing Talisa Stark in the worldwide smash hit TV show, Game of Thrones, has come on board James Cameron’s upcoming sequels.
Pictures of Oona Chaplin alongside Avatar producer Jon Landau can be seen below and will no doubt be a step up for the actress who has given commendable performances of late in notable TV shows namely Black Mirror and Taboo.
