Endemol enters South Indian TV with Deal or No Deal

Deepak Dhar, Country Head for Endemol India, was an integral part of the Endemol India team at its conception in 2005. Since then, he has played a significant role in the development of Endemol India operations. At Endemol, he has produced, among others, highly successful programmes such as Big Brother, Fear Factor, Indian Laughter Challenge, Jo Jita Wohi Sikandar and Mission Ustaad.

Endelmol has entered the South Indian TV arena with the show Deal or No Deal. The show has had a hugely successful run in its Hindi avatar which was anchored by Madhavan. Now the Tamil version is also equally successful.

A mix of knowledge, skill, chance and strategy, the game show has one contestant each week who will be playing for big money. There are 26 models having cash filled briefcases containing anything from 1 Re to an absolute fortune of Rs 50 Lakhs. The contestant has to choose one of these boxes numbered 1 to 26.

One by one, the contestant gets to open these boxes. After the first 6 boxes are opened an unseen opponent joins the action: The Banker who offers money to the contestant for his briefcase. The choice the contestant has to make is "Deal or No Deal"
