After the release of Shanghai, critics have noticed Emraan Hashmi for his power packed performance and for the first time he has broken away from the 'serial kisser' tag.

Emraan says, "If you consider my work in the last 10 years, then I have always done roles that had a shock value and provided entertainment for the masses. I don't think the critics or the masses can blame me for doing meaningless potboilers." The actor wishes to re-invent himself with every new movie and says he will do films with sensible romance and not candy floss. He adds, “I may be known as the 'kissing' hero and may have received a lot of flak for doing intimate scenes, but today almost every actor is doing them. All films have a kissing scene."

About his professional world, Emraan says, "I hate film parties and I had decided early on in my career that I will never be part of the social circuit in Bollywood. It's not my cup of tea. I just wait for my film to get over and disconnect from my professional world. I like to hang out with my friends outside the film industry. If you want stable and solid friendships, then it is better to look for them outside the industry. It's better to unwind with people who do not belong to the film world." The actor likes to time with his two and half year old son, Ayaan and wife Parveen in his Goa penthouse.

Emraan Hashmi will be seen in Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar, Ekta Kapoor's Ek Thi Daayan and Vikram Bhatt's Raaz-3.
